you dont need to sand the rust off with it but you can if you want.
It needs a rough surface to adhere to,so might be best to just paint it on.
Where your roof is smooth and rust free you will need to key (rough it with some sandpaper to stick)
Once it on,it aint coming off.
Trouble is they only do clear in one tin size, this one

You must wear gloves and old clothes when doing it because it takes weeks to scrub off skin.
If you need to clean your brush off,you can only use the special thinners but if i were you i would just buy some brushes and throw them away. smile smile

Both..
You will still need to rough the paint up to paint onto really,if its shiney it peels off.
Why do you want clear if your roof is going rusty.dont you want to cover it over??

Its not going rusty yet, well, only a lil bit orange coloured in places.
There isn't a awful lot of paint on there tho, certainly not 1 or 2 proper coats, looks more like it's been oversprayed, or just had one quick spray over.

I want clear because I don't want it black or white. Tho actually, white would prolly be ok as it would match the sunroof..

It went on to dickies van, underneath ok too. probably the worse the rust the better!

I think ive got it sussed now tho, very very rough sand paper and very very thin coats of paint. no drips or runs.

I think im addicted to it! the saviour of my car (and barry!!)

So I prolly shouldn't use it to paint the inside of my roof then ? Unless I want to go for the speckledy sticky look lol
