This is a common fault i believe but my gauge is up and down like a yo yo and doin my head in
been told it is most probably the sender unit by one fella but would like some more opinions before i get one so what dya reckon???

I reckon your lucky that yours moves at all ! Mine doesn't

its prob is the sender but i would try a gauge firdt if you can get a cheep on ar borrow one and its a shit job to do the sender on a bay unless there a hole you can get to if from in side

Mine did this on my bug. Got fucked off and punched the dash, which made it go up to the right level
Took the gauge out and was simply a loose connection, cost nought for once.

that is what i was thinkin cheaper and easier!
someone has gashed a dirty great hole above the tank so its probably been changed before anyway (thinkin bout it that might be why im overcome with exhaust fumes as well!!!!!!

I put in a new gauge,new sender,new wiring and even a new tank and mine still reads wrong

maybe i ll just put up with it then least until i punch it or go
