Take 15 hours, me and my good friend Gav, 2 nit combs, lots of conditioner and lots of patience! lol

It was a bloody ball ache but I'm glad I took the time instead of cutting them and ending up with mega short hair!!!

ive decided NOT to go with the narrowed beem. im gonna stay stock and be slightly different being as most ovals ive seen seem to be on narrowed beems. Plus, being honest, going narrowed creatse more expense.

Well i gots my finger out today and got some work done and im well chuffed.

after getting the shell orf the other day it all looked like this.

i decided to steam into sorting the pan out, so ripped orf the old front beem.

thankfully my framehead is sound as a pound.

being as i thought i had plenty of time till my brakes arrived( not due till 31 st Mar at earliest) i shortened the leaves re-fitted them and then put in brand new link pins and bushes, painted them all and re-fitted.

but, part of the way thru my brand spanking new CSP disc brake kit arrived early ( how fucking much )
so i started mocking up the right hand side ready to fit both sides on wednesday

hopefully come wednesday i will have the front beem/disc brakes all sorted. End of the month i will order the new master cylinder and associated parts complete with brand new brake lines.
I am aiming and trying as hard as i can to get the shell back onto the pan by the end of April ready to start the RE-BUILD
i cant work out if i am making good progress at the moment or not i should listen to my back as its telling me to stop stop stop

i forgot to add, when i re-bushed the link pins and fitted the new pins....i shimmed the link pins oop correctly i have a chart in my workshop which gives the correct settings/shims

DICKIE.................

if you read this.........look at pic number5 above^^^^ if you remember our phone call the other day i said how on the 56 the leaves go THRU the arms...you can see them clearly oop there^^ and all i did to trim them was run the cutting disc thru them whilst they were still fitted and grub screwed in

Right then now im back from my course i steamed right back into the old girl..

the 2 inch narrowed beem is now on.
with the brand new CSP disc brake kit.

i must admit i am WELL impressed with the CSP kit and it was a piece of piss to fit onto my og spindles.

the floor is now totally welded.all welds sealed and top and underneath pans have been red leaded, hammerited and underneath is waxoiled too.
the floor is completely black now, the pics show it in progress before i final coated

i only have FOUR more bits of welding to do and its the shell can go back on the pan
so i am hoping to have a rolling shell with in the next two weeks.
The pan only needs brand new brake lines putting in, new pan seal fitting and away we go

Well done Mario, good work! The oval is starting to take shape.
Just a thought but what are you doing regards a master cylinder on those discs?

Mario

moderator
Master cylinder is gonna be the one csp recomend.

i have it on good authority that machine7 are going to have most of the bits i need to finish the brake system off with on one of their bundle deals, pretty soon
altho i am fed up waiting as i wanna get it done
i only need to sort the master cylinder and fit new brake lines and then the pan is TOTALLY finished

ive only got FOUR bits of welding left to do on the shell then they can go back 2gether

Sounds like you have things sorted then with M7,i fitted a Porsche pattern full CSP vented system on my ghia not long ago and cant fault the kit much at all!

With uprating your system.....are you going to have to change your pedal cluster(brake pedal) and the position of the brake fluid reservoir?
Not much welding to do...
Keep up the good work dude!

right then, ive done a load more recently but forgot to update this........

i now have brand new brake lines all round the car......all for the massive cost of ZERO my mate works in a well known tyre fitting place

ALL 4 arches are now fully welded, primed sprayed stone chipped and final colour painted
I only have TWO more bits of welding to do and then the shell can go back on the pan

So today i started prepping my replacement deck lid, altho i will have to replace it as it has more rot in it than i was told

im a bit sore today as i had another sesh in the ink shop so i took it easy

Decklid BEFORE sanding down and priming

and AFTER priming

for those want to know, i am hand paiting EVERY panel, as in spraying with tins of aerosol paint.Until i come to do the complete car, then i will use an idea Dickie and Claire put into my head

right thats me for now so until i bore you to death next time.............byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Started painting the deck lid this past few days.......................and......................................

the paint is SHIT

after all my prep work ive had sand it all back again..............resprayed it again today and the paint is still shit

so im gonna try a new supplier this week and try a new technique ive been discussing with Dickie.Which funnily enough i think Claire has used.

Basically im gonna roller the primer on to ALL panels..........then wet flat it all back smooth.......primer again with roller...........wet flat it.
then use the same technique for the colour.............but on the final coat i will aerosol spary the beryl green on

getting lots of wrist ache at the minute with sanding back the decklid and bonnet as they are both black in colour

end of next weekend should see the complete floor finished with the brakes bled and sorted and pedal assembly back together and the shell totally welded and ready to go back on.......................well thats the plan
