first up the wifes Bug "Bugsy" ( i aint brave or hard enough to laugh at the name )

Next is my 56 Oval "Betty"

and finally my daily, my 67 Split Van, not even got around to naming her yet

cool fella bit shocked tho that they did ovals in the dove blue i "think" mine was origionally beige then resprayed in the Beryl Green.

got LOTS of plans for her but i gotta finish my split first then will steam into gettin Betty sorted

I give up as I had the same same problem with my Garage door which I bought, he so say had all the details if I wanted to buy one (he lost them!), now I have a crap garage door and he keeps telling me it is not as good as his! ( long story!)

have some MAJOR plans for her like i say, she will stay the same colour,altho i didnt like it 1st time i saw it in the flesh!!

am thinkin of goin with a narrowed beem disc brake conversion dropped spindles bigger engine, but like i say gotta finish the van 1st

Today he said it was light blue!

I did google colours and there is only a few colors in total in this age, what are the other blues like?

The Beetle on Raceshack (discovery RT) was an oval of around this era, that was what got me asking a few questions, the bloke on there did some pretty cool mods on it! But I never seen it in it's finished state!

They had a bit of a rugged life to be honest, I was talking to my Dad today to pick his brains but it 's a bit of a rough subject but this is the best I can explain;

They bought a brand new 55/56 (blue)he can't be to sure as the beetle was put in the Barn shortly after buying it, as there was oil/Suis crisis and a Petrol/Fuel ration was in force in Eire, so it stayed in the barn and they claimed the fuel to use in the Lorry and the Tractor instead!

They also had a older Red/ Beetle they did not buy this one from new and it was more of a work horse for taking chain-saws and moving small amounts of wood to customers, my uncle Tommy had the engine out a few time's, my Dad was saying that he could in the end take it out in 20-30 minutes, all mostly for silly little jobs really!
I knew my Uncle Tommy later on in life but he never really struck me as a guy who messed with cars! He liked the beer In a nice way! I can remember him coming home from the pub and going to bed early evening!

Unfortunately it sort of gets messy now as his Father was sadly killed in an accident with a tractor in 1958 and being the only one's with a big vehicle in the town, no one had machinery to help him when it rolled on him!
I think it was a Fordson super major E27N which is bloody big but again this only came to light when Roo got a tractor like this for Christmas (long story!)

So back to the Beetle, after the accident I think it got very messy and bitchy out in Eire and even my Dad was becoming a slave to the family business, he was only 11 or 12 and I think there was a court case about his death and his fathers brother could have been sued, so his mother really just up sticks and moved to Manchester in 1959 for a better life!
I think it was worse, my Dad ran of to sea at very young age of 13! Summer holiday job with his uncle to paint a boat and just stayed on it!

So nobody knows what happened to any of it! It is just one of those quest, to see what one looked like TBH!
