I am selling my 1960 VW Beetle, as featured on Wheeler Dealers in May 2009. Since featuring on the show I have fitted a new roof lining, fitted an authentic roof rack, flushed out the petrol tank, had the brakes overhauled (pipes and shoes replaced), fitted an original VW fuel pump and had the engine professionally colour tuned (receipts are available for all this work, plus the Wheeler Dealers receipts).
She is in a very original condition, people loved her at the Bristol VW show last week. All panels, wheels, door cards, window glass, quarter lights, headlights and seat frames are original. The engine was replaced in May 2009 with a 1200 reconditioned engine (as can be seen on Wheeler Dealers). This engine has achieved 1,300 miles since being fitted in 2009 and I have driven her to all the VW shows within 100miles of Cheltenham.
This car is very special, as the entire restoration can be seen on a 1hr TV program (available on youtube). I will provide a DVD which contains the full 1 hr program, which was given to me by the production company whom filmed Wheeler Dealers.
A HPI was completed on the vehicle when I purchased her and shows 6 owners from new (can be provided). The registration 5407 AD is a Gloucestershire number and she has always been within the county.
The re-spray on this car is great (2 pack paint by RMG Coachworks, in the original Gulf Blue Code#290). Many people have commented on the quality of the paint work, the car was also fully undersealed. All the chrome is clean (bar the quarter lights which have a little bit of corrosion on the frames) the wheels are very tidy and the bumpers are corrosion free. The fuel gauge is an original manual gauge fitted to VW Beetles in the 1950’s.
