Right then, my new toy arrived on Sunday night safe n sound:D

My thanks go out to "converted Mike" for the safe collection and delivery of my Ghia......a long long journey from Derby to me up in Scotland...Cheers Mike:D


This Ghia was for sale on VZI and NO-one bought it,thankfully for me......and what a mistaka to maka...i fucking love this machine and i can not get over how much has been done to it...............:D

Floor pan....running gear shot blasted and powder coated...new soft and hard lines etc etc.....

Requires 3 panels to be welded...ALL provided:D

Having had a look over the old girl....i am chuffed to fucking fuck with it....................why nobody bought this i do not understand..

I got this from horty 2,Paul, and what a top bloke he is...everything is exactly as he described in his ad.....except for one thing......
the ad didnt mention the fact the car comes with a body rolling jig too:D.......

So being the excited little(old) boy i am i waved goodbye to converted mike at silly o clock on monday mornin(06.15) and hit the garage...


Emptied the car...............loads of bits in boxes............

and started to sort a plan of attack.............

so......front end....

She needed this panel welding in(below)




so...................yesterday and today i got her from that^^^^^

to the following


panel welded n ground back


filler..............


twas sooo fucking cold up here i had to borrow a tool from the wife for the filler to go off!!!


then stuck the old girl up in the air



and starting sanding...............i fucking hate sanding...!!!!!!!



and one of meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....



thats me for now,but will be back out on her tomorrow........

these are some ideas im workin on at the mo for her......

Colours.........not decided which yet but.....

Chocolate brown paint.......brown n cream interior

Light yellow paint....with navy blue n yellow interior

loud yellow paint.....with black n yellow interior...


Wheels....

Ride height..........

she will be lowered,at the moment she is TOO low approx 2 splines on rear......it dont look like it in the pics but she is sat on 16 inch wheels(?) at the moment......i will raise her one click


Engine......to start with my spare 1641 donk will go in....then my 2276 lump will be her main power plant:D

They're either split bug or barndoor bus, in that case. Worth a good few quid

Well today is my last day orf before night shift tomorrow so i steamed on into the ol girl today...............



i concentrated pretty much on the left front corner......



inner box section.....before



after...i have actually cleaned this up n protected it with a quick blip of primer..

under wing area.....lower inner edge...i needed to tidy up and finish some previous welding in here..........before



i tidied up this lot^^^^ and then sprayed a good dose of zinc primer in there......see pic 2 above ...


which then left me to sort this repair panel into the lower wing.....(also you can see a previous repair in the wing which i tidied up)



i thought id taken a pic of it welded n blended but i didnt!!! knob i am ....anyways same area with filler....still lots of blending to do on this area....






i also did a little more work on the whole front clip cleaning it back a wee bit more........



she is getting there now...........not bad considering ive only had her 3 days....

Im getting more pleasant surprises each time i do more work:D


these are brand new..




floorpan is solid altho work has been done in the past...




be a wee while now til i get back on her cos of my shifts

Started prepping n cutting out old repairs on the front panel......(this is before...ive actually cut this out n forgot to take a pic!!!)



ive decided, that im gonna leave doing the actual repair until i get the shell off the pan...



Dont seem like i did a lot ...even tho i spent a good few hours out there

anyway......started stripping the ol girl ready for the big lift....

left door off



engine lid off




right door off....




which then revealed this little hole....



so far so good...........very little "hidden" rot which im well chuffed with


next stage is to get the shell off the pan............

the pan is mint.....and i mean mint...absolutely nothing to do on it as it has all been done

will be spending a while on body prep once ive finished the last bits of welding......just got the rear arches to check out...i know there is one small hole for definite to sort...hopefully that's it....

shell is getting lifted of this coming monday matey

it will slow up a wee bit as ive started building my 2276.............altho if i get the ghia re-built in time.....i shall stick my spare 1641 in it her and come to Action in her

Nice car fella, got me one last year, love it to bits when it doesn't fill with smoke then decide it wants to run down the battery! about to spend lots of money on a bare metal respray for her, can't wait good luck with the build.

At your mates place when i can get it going!!!!!! its proper dead, not sure what to do as iv'e found out swearing at it won't make it work and that is the full extent of my technical knowledge when it comes to cars! bag 'o' shite.
